Chicks Exclusive STAY UP Technology!

Rugged Ride STAY UP Fly Boots - Set of 4. Made from breathable mesh, these fly boots features 50% more sewn-in STAY UP technology. Our boots have 3 polymer stays while the leading competitor has only two. Rugged Ride STAY UP boots wrap securely with heavy-duty full length Velcro for durability and breakaway safety. Offers season-long protection and minimizes stomping and swishing by just simply keeping the flies off your equine's legs.

These leggings style fly boots have breathable mesh that does not allow biting flies to penetrate and eliminates botfly eggs from being laid, all while allowing air to circulate, which is especially comfortable for healing wounds. Your horse will be under less stress and have less leg fatigue and hoof cracks from constant stomping.

NOTE: Please refer to the sizing chart on measuring for the proper fit of these boots. The boots should be adjusted slightly smaller than the hairline at the top of the hoof, so that they rest just above the coronet band. This keeps the boot from sliding down over the hoof, preventing your horse from walking on the boots.

Set of 4.

Rugged Ride STAY UP II Fly Boots

There are some nice and bright color options. I find that the velcro is good but the sewing to attach the velcro to the boot isn't so great. The plastic stays have already popped out of the bottom of one of the boots. The stays don't necessarily stay very straight long either and once they've been they won't go straight again.

Weak binding and thread.

These stay up just fine but the stays wear through the bottom binding quickly and the thread to sew the velcro breaks easily. I am frequently making repairs and reinforcing the bottom. If you can sew and don't mind making repairs they work great.

I got these for my standard donkey because the flies were biting his legs until they were bloody. I tried sprays, ointments and feed through control but nothing was helping. These boots solved the problem. They fit him well, stay up, stay on (even through rolling) and his legs are fly free. I have used them almost every day for the past 2 months and they have been very hardy. I am concerned that the velcro closure may not hold up through the summer; it is starting to pull away from the seams. The only other slight negative is they do tend to rub my donkey's heel.

These boots are just as good as the Shoofly Leggins I've had before, but they have more, fun color options :) My mare is a 14.2 QH and I ordered the cob size which is actually a bit too small.

These were ok, but the biggest problem turned out to be the velcro strip that holds them on. It isn't as aggressive as the Shoofly boots and I had to add some help to mine. She kicked off the back ones or maybe chewed them off - not really sure. Then she lost one of the fronts, which I eventually found and put back on. The stiffening strips help keep them upright tho and that's a good addition. Last year's Shooflys ended up collapsing by the end of the season and weren't strong enough to use again.

They are made well, I just happen to buy the grey ones and let me tell you they were not easy to find. Also my mare has a knack for getting them off in seconds, fully velcoed 🤯

I bought these for my 28 year old gelding so he would quit stomping his feet. They work great! I do recommend measuring your horse before purchasing.

LOVE these and LOVE Chick's!! Seemless exchange process! These are awesome. In case anyone is trying to size ponies, the bottom of the cuff for Mini size is 2.5in, if the hoof is wider than this, these will not come off. Pony is 2 3/4. I opted for pony size for both my mini and my pony. The mini imo is for really petite minis. If your mini is on the upper end (36in and up) I would go with the pony size.

I like these very much. They are easy to put on and take off and they work well. Not quite as durable as I would have hoped for, which is why I only gave it 4 stars.

Good boots, but they do catch poop

The boots are great at what they do. They stay up well and noticeably stop the vast majority of flies from biting my gelding. I got horse size for my slightly larger than average QH/TB, and they fit well. Unfortunately, the back ones are also perfect for catching poop. I wish I could Velcro them slightly tighter so they wouldn't have such a gap in the back. But ultimately I just take them off every so often and wash them, and it's fine.

I bought a set of 4 and put 2 on each of my horses' fronts. I started with my Tennessee Walker, who has never worn anything on his legs before, and he kept lifting his hoof, and seemed bothered by it, so I turned it upside down, and put both on that way...and he was happy. My mare is wearing them right side up. Lol She rolled and they stayed up, and on. Only a few hours, but so far so good. Of note- My TWH is a big boy, yet the horse size is wide on him...upside down or right side up! It would be beneficial to have a wider velcro piece so that they could be snugged up a bit.

These fly boots seem to stay up and hold up better than the more expensive brand. The only improvement might be to have them be front / back specific, with the backs being slightly bigger, but they do work well as they are.
